Turning the corner outside the tunnel main, Vincent suddenly halted their Leaning against the tunnel wall, he stood tall over Catherine, staying silent, just wanting to look at his beautiful new bride for a moment, before saying, "You are really mine now Catherine..."
With a look of discord, Catherine corrected him by saying, "Don't you know I have been yours, from the moment we knew we loved each other?"
A slight audible laugh escaped his lips, as he looked down, and admitted, "Yes...I did know within my heart, and yours this was true, however, now I can accept, there are no longer any limits of any kind left between us."
Vincent tipped his head and asked his wife, "Do you know when it came to be, in which we first knew, and spoke about our love openly to one another?"
Laying her head against his chest, she hugged his middle tightly as she answered, "Yes, I believe I do...it was when you contacted me about Ridley. I was so happy to finally hear from you, because it had been such a long time."
Nodding, Vincent said, "Yes..."
Catherine pondered Vincent's actions back then for a moment, and said, "It was after Elliot and I stopped seeing each other...and I thought...or rather, I should say, I hoped you would come...but you didn't. In fact, you didn't contact me or anything until you heard those frightening stories about Ridley."
In reply, Vincent meekly said, "I had my reasons..."
Sorrowfully, Catherine asked, "What were they Vincent?"
Taking in a deep breath, he hesitated a moment before admitting, "It was because I saw the kind of man Elliot was, and the prestigious sort of couple you made, when you were together under the bright lights of your world. I couldn't imagine how I would ever fit into your life, or you into mine...so I tried to stay away..."
Laying his head now upon hers, he continued, "...however, when you came to me that day, and I saw you standing on the other side of the iron barred barrier, I knew it was of no use. I had to tell you what was in my heart, and of how beautiful you looked to me..."
Thoughtfully he reminisced, "...you were beautiful...just like...an Angel standing there."
Smiling up at him, she said, "I believe that may have been the exact moment, I began to understand this love between us. I missed you so much, and I could see it had been a painful separation for you too."
Mindfully, she added, "Seeing you again that day, brought up so many emotions, and I remember feeling so lost, because of the uncertainty of a tomorrow for us."
Vincent thought back, and said, "I remember you asked what were we to do, and I told you, the only thing we could do...endure the pain and savor every moment of the joy."
Thinking that was a lovely but bittersweet thing to say, Catherine revealed, "That made me sad when you told me that."
Vincent heaved a sigh, as he confessed, "I was sad that I had to say it...however it was our reality back then...still, that moment gave me hope, as I felt your heart aching along with mine."
"And now..." Said Catherine, "...we are married, and this is our reality now..."
With an embrace, Vincent said, "Yes..."
He then took her by the hand and said, "Come with me Catherine..."
They walked a way, up and down some gravel laden paths, when Catherine's curiosity got the best of her. As she gathered up her wedding gown's hem for easier hiking, she asked, "Where are we going anyway?"
Looking back very mysteriously, he told her he had made special arrangements for tonight. To which Catherine excitedly asked, where and when did he have the time to do all this?
Vincent explained it was last night, when he and Ronald left Jennifer's. Adding, "We gathered Pascal and Mouse, and we were up all night to complete my vision...however, it was well worth it, as it turned out to my expectations...and hopefully you will be pleased as well."
When she asked a few more questions, he explained it was all a part of her wedding gift, though their honeymoon alcove was really separate and apart from the gift, even though it was all in one.
He then halted any further explanation, worried he might give too much away, and said she would just have to wait and see, once they got there.
Arriving at their destination, Catherine excitedly said she felt like Alice through the looking glass just now curiously awaiting what wonder was around the next corner.
Vincent pushed open the heavy doors leading to the crags, The Crag Threshold
And as he did, Catherine couldn't believe her eyes...she was looking at an exact replica of her old balcony doors from her apartment above! Vincent walked up to them, and told Catherine, her gift was waiting on the other side of these doors and urged her to open them.
Stepping gingerly up to the threshold, she looked up at Vincent with a hesitant smile, wondered what in the world could be on the other side.
A feeling of deja-vu came over her as she opened these doors like she had done a million times before in her previous home, and as she did, she had the surprise of her life...it was as if she was on her Manhattan Balcony again...looking down over the city.
Walking up to the bricked hedge, on the edge of the crags, Catherine told Vincent, "I feel like I am back on my old balcony! I cannot believe you done this for me! Oh and look, you even have my old chairs here too!"
As he stepped up to look over the crag ledge with her, he told her Jennifer donated them to his cause, knowing her old patio furniture would make it complete.
Catherine hugged him tightly, and said, "You knew I was going to miss my balcony, didn't you?"
With emotion he expressed, "In truth...I missed it as well. However...I did know it was the one place you would miss the most living here. So...I wanted to give you a little piece of home from your world above, so you wouldn't long for the city too much."
Reflectively, she told him, "I loved it because it provided us a window to the world without danger. Also...it was our place of refuge in the city, where we could just be who we were together...with no hiding."
In conclusion she conveyed, "But lastly, I loved my balcony most of all, because it was our place...during those early days of falling in love."
Vincent kissed her hair, and told her, "Yes, for all those reasons, your balcony was a magical place for us to share. And since it was so, I thought it would be nice if we could have one to share again, but this time it is our balcony...here in our world."
