"We hope you will enjoy our story"
Suddenly a noise from the chamber entrance interrupted their solitude. "Vincent, are you there?"

Catherine lifted her head from Vincent's shoulder hearing Father's voice. She started to rise from Vincent's lap, but he tightened his hold around her, and shook his head. She smiled as she settled back against him.

"Yes Father I'm here. Come in please."

Father entered, and to his astonishment and joy, he found Catherine with his son. "Catherine my dear, we've been so worried about you."

Catherine smiled at the tunnel elder, then looked at Vincent. "Vincent found me tonight."

Father thought a moment, "Then it was a message from you that Pascal received over the pipes?"

Catherine nodded, "There were a set of pipes in the warehouse that I was being held captive."

Father hobbled over to stand beside Vincent's chair, examining Catherine through with his shrewd physician's eye. "I should examine you to make sure that you're all right."

Vincent placed his hand on her stomach. "Yes, I think an examination is very important."

Father eyed both of them carefully. "Is there something that the two of you aren't telling me?"

Catherine couldn't keep the smile from coming to her lips, as she placed her hand over Vincent's. "We think an examination is just what's called for since it's also the health of your grandchild that we're concerned about."

Father stared at them with wide eyes. "Did you just say my grandchild?"

Vincent nodded, "Catherine and I are going to have a baby."

Father looked at Catherine again, "When did this happen?"

Catherine frowned at the slightly accusatory tone in his voice, "We loved the night that I went to Vincent in the cavern."

Vincent tightened his arms around Catherine, trying to calm her, "Father, we're aware this is a shock but we hope you can be as happy about our child as we are."

Jacob suddenly smiled, "Of course I'm happy."

Then he looked at Catherine once again, "My dear please accept my apologies for any bad feelings we've had in the past."

Catherine rose and embraced him, "Everything is forgiven."

Father tightened his hold around her for a moment, and whispered in her ear, "Thank you for proving me wrong."

Catherine stepped back, and smiled a watery smile, "I love you Father."

Vincent rose, and put his arm around Catherine pulling her to his side, "We both love you very much."

Then Jacob once again, became the concerned physician. "Now young lady if you'll come with me, we'll make sure that you and my grandchild are both healthy."

Catherine linked her arm through his, and with Vincent following, they left the chamber.
