Vincent looked down at her and softly asked, “Feeling better Catherine?”
Hugging him tightly, Catherine thought of how she loved feeling Vincent so close, and wanted nothing more than to feel the powerful essence which he owned always near her. She then answered, "I always do when I am with you."
She then hesitated, before adding, “Lying beside you last night felt so right, I wish you would lie here with me now, and hold me to you like that once again.”
But as quickly as she said her wish aloud, she just as quickly cautioned, “But if Father were to come in...well, perhaps we should walk back to your chamber instead.”
Softly Vincent agreed, saying, “As you wish.”
Vincent assisted Catherine from the bed, and politely held out his arm for her. As Catherine went to slip her arm through his, she caught sight of the sling Vincent was donning! With a mock seriousness, Catherine teased, “Vincent, that is quite a sling! And the shade of those Rose buds, really bring out the color of your eyes!”
Vincent tipped his head thinking, he was not free from the slings and arrows this truss was attracting, not even from his Catherine!
Sheepishly, he explained, “Mary is the one who sewed this for me in the hopes it would cheer me up! However, I believe it has done more to improve the morale of those around me, as suddenly, everyone is a comedian.”
Catherine started giggling, and told him she thought he looked adorable in it.
Vincent however assured her, adorable, was not the look he was shooting for!
As they strolled through the tunnels, they made plans for the late afternoon. They decided to go to the Chamber of the Falls to read. After all Jacob advised his son to get some light exercise today, and since Vincent had nothing but leisure time before him, they thought a quiet afternoon at the falls would be lovely!
So firstly, they headed for Vincent’s Chamber, to grab the book they've been reading, which was, “Wuthering Heights”, and as they walked Vincent told Catherine, of the exciting expansion news which was underway, and also about Peter’s plight with Jennifer as well.
Longingly, Catherine replied, “I do wish I could confide in Jenny. Peter is right about one thing, she will not take this move casually. Not without a better explanation of where I am moving to.”
Vincent nodded, thinking he would try to get clearance for Catherine to tell her dear friend of their secret world. Thoughtfully, he told her, “I will talk to Father.”
Smiling up at Vincent, she replied, “Thank you Vincent, it would mean so much to me.”
Tipping his head thoughtfully, he told her, “I believe you need to keep your ties with Jennifer. She sounds like a truly devoted friend.”
Looking down grinning, she relayed a little bit about Jennifer's personality, when she said, “She is devoted, and she makes me laugh. All of my life I have always taken myself so seriously, but when I am with Jen, I don’t know, I guess she makes me see things differently. I can laugh at life, and at myself.”
She then added, “I think you would like her very much. She may give Father a run for his money though!”
Catherine started laughing out loud, as she thought about Jennifer, causing Vincent to ask, “What is it?”
She finally collected herself enough to say, “I was just thinking about what you told me about Peter’s phone call to Jen this morning. Her quizzing him so.”
Vincent smiled too, as he told Catherine, “Peter is quite unnerved having Jennifer believe such a relationship exists between you two.”
Catherine chuckled, as she said, “Poor Peter, I will have to convince Jenny someway he isn't the secret love of my life.”
Vincent assured Catherine, “I will go to Father as soon as possible about the situation, for Peter’s sake.”
Happy, to know Vincent was willing to go to bat for her, concerning Jennifer, she then wondered if Peter said anything about her job at the DA, and so she asked, “Did Peter say anything about speaking to Joe?”
Nodding, Vincent confirmed, “Joe does not expect you back until Monday.”
Happily, she hugged Vincent’s arm tightly as she said, “Then it looks like you could be stuck with me for the whole week!”
Vincent assured her, “Dear Catherine, a sweeter plight a man could not find himself in!”
